MSS People launches office in Glasgow
Region’s unemployment rate may be at record low, but it is getting harder for employers to find and attract the skilled workers they need
Fast-growing North East -based MSS People, which specialises in Engineering, Technical, Finance, Contact Centre, Sales & Administration, has expanded its operations with the opening of a new base in Glasgow.
The company, which was founded in 1964 and recognised by The Telegraph as one of the 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain, says the expansion will enable MSSPeople to offer the full range of services to its growing portfolio of clients in Scotland.
John McCullagh, managing director at the second-generation family-owned business, MSS People, said: “With record low unemployment and a resilient jobs market, employer hiring intentions in Glasgow and the rest of the country is at its highest level in over a decade.
“This is making it harder for employers to find the right people with the right skills to support their businesses ambitions.
“The Scottish market has become increasingly important to us over the last 12 months. Whilst we cover a wide geographical area, Glasgow provides the best location both strategically and in terms of the locally available skills base that our clients need. This allows us to better engage with the people we are already doing business with and those we want to work with in the future.”
Gary Morris, Regional Recruitment Manager, will head up the new Glasgow office and lead the company’s planned expansion throughout the rest of the country.
Gary Morris said: “The senior market in Scotland has had a number of challenges over the past 18 months with the war on talent becoming more intense.
“With only a handful of specialist recruiters focusing on senior hires within contact centres, sales and operations, its even more important that employers ensure they select an expert in the market. This way they ensure they get the very best on the market and in a candidate driven market, its all about relationships.
"Having spent just under 2 years focused on the senior market, I have an extensive network of active and passive candidates coupled with a candidate centric approach.”
“We are confident that our new base in Glasgow will prove to be a sound strategic move and enable us to continue growing our client base, increase our own headcount and take a step closer to realising the ambition of securing our position as one of the leading recruitment businesses both here and across the border in England.”
MSS People Operations Manager Allan Stevenson added Recruitment is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the economy, estimated to be worth £36 billion a year – up from £25 billion four years ago.
According to figures published by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, recruitment companies will be responsible for 56% of all jobs filled between now and the end of 2018, compared to 45% in 2016.
